Skin Tags (also known as acrochordons) are usually small and benign growths on the skin. Resembling an extension of the skin itself, they often have a peduncle (stem-like structure) and are slightly raised off the flat surface of the skin.

They vary in size and can appear anywhere in the body, usually appearing on the face, underarms, groin and neck areas.

Skin tags can be treated effectively using methods, such as freezing, excision and ligation.

If you’re looking for skin tag removal in Dubai, we prefer cauterising the skin tags from the stem. This method reduces the chance of reoccurrence and provides fast and effective removal.

Warts are small benign growths that are often rough and raised with grainy projections from the skin.

They are divided into these different types:

Common warts: Usually found on the hands and fingers and can appear as a single or multiple growths.

Plantar warts: Occur on the soles of feet and are often painful on walking (known as Verrucas)

Flat warts: Smaller and smoother, appearing on the face, arms and legs, as small clusters.

What is Electrocautery?

This device uses high-frequency electrical currents in its blade to not only cut the lesion off from above the skin, but at the same time delivers a strong current which desiccates the roots of the lesion – preserving the surrounding skin tissue.

If you’re considering skin tag, wart, or mole removal in Dubai, this advanced treatment ensures precise targeting of the affected area, effectively treating deep beneath the skin with minimal discomfort and downtime.

What to expect during your treatment?

This minimally invasive procedure is done as a day-case, and you can return back to work immediately.

Consultation:
We take time to discuss whether this is the best treatment option for you, as well as talking about any underlying medical problems or medications you may be taking.

Preparation:
Pre-treatment pictures are taken for reference, then the area is sterilised and a local anaesthetic is applied to numb the skin. This can be a topical cream numbing agent such as lidocaine cream, or a small injection to numb the area if it’s a larger or deeper lesion.

Treatment:
Using the Hyfrecator electrocautery device, a precise power setting is applied (determined by the doctor) and the lesion is removed.

Aftercare:
Following the wart, mole, or skin tag removal procedure there is usually some redness and swelling, which settles within a few hours to days, depending upon the size of the lesion.

A plaster or dressing is applied and then you are able to resume your daily activities.  The doctor can recommend some topical agents such as silicon gel to help with the healing process for larger lesions, although this is not usually needed for everyone.

A follow-up is recommended 1-2 weeks after the procedure for a review of the final results.

How long do the Results Last?

The treatment aims to remove the lesion completely.

However, there is always a chance of reoccurrence, although very small. The reason is that sometimes cells may remain deep down within the skin which can replicate back into the lesion, as well as memory cells which recognise that there used to be a skin tag here.

Here at My London Skin Clinic, we ensure that we use the best technology available aka Hyfrecator electrocautery as it targets the deeper layers of skin so the chance of reoccurrence is low.

Frequently Asked Questions

We remove skin tags, warts, moles, and benign lesions – like age spots and Seborrhoic Keratosis. The procedure is completely safe when performed by our experienced doctors using advanced techniques, like Hyfrecator electrocautery.

After a consultation, the area is numbed with local anaesthesia. The Hyfrecator device precisely removes the lesion and its roots, ensuring minimal discomfort and downtime.

Most lesions are removed in a single session. If you have multiple lesions, they can often be treated during the same appointment, depending on their size and location.

Temporary redness, swelling, or scabbing may occur but will resolve in a few days.

Using silicone gels for larger lesions and following aftercare instructions can minimise scarring and promote healing.

While recurrence is rare, it can happen if cells remain deep in the skin.

Post-procedure, keep the area clean, avoid excessive sun exposure, and follow your doctor’s advice for optimal results.
